  • Acel Moore Media Awards

    Each year the Philadelphia Prime Movers Media Program issues the Acel Moore Media Awards as an effort to recognize and reward students for their commitments to their school’s Media Clubs, and also to give them a "taste" of journalistic recognition. We are excited to announce

    The School District of Philadelphia, Office of Career and Technical Education is pleased to open applications for the Acel Moore Media Awards. The DEADLINE for entry is May 4, 2014.

    Acel Moore is a legendary columnist, writer and senior editor, who has had an amazing impact on American journalism for more than 50 years. He began his career with The Philadelphia Inquirer as a copy clerk, then became an editorial clerk and worked his way up through the editing and reporting ranks to become editor emeritus. Moore won the Pulitzer Prize in 1977 for local investigative reporting for a series on the abuse of inmates at Fairview State Hospital

    Winners will be selected from the following categories:
    1. Best Editorial
    2. Best Story
    3. Best Blog, Online Presentation or Broadcast
    4. Best Photograph
    5. Best Sports Story

  • Journalism Advisor Application

    The School District of Philadelphia, through the Division of Career and Technical Education is looking for dynamic School District teachers and staff to run after-school media clubs in their schools. Each club will have a choice of a school newspaper (on or off line), radio broadcast, television production and/or podcast. Each program will have a Temple University mentor assigned to their students and a visiting journalist.
