This issue of the Gratz Bulldog Courier showcases the newly elected school officers and the establishment of a new school government. The newly elected officers pledge to bring all grades together to make a difference in the school environment and to get the students involved. An inauguration was set up by Mr Rooney and the students were officially sworn in. The first project was the MLK day of service. Fellow students participated in a tutoring program with Cleveland Elementary School students. Gratz students read the Cleveland students and in turn the Cleveland students read to them their 25 book challenge. In the Teachers' Corner reporters interviewed members of the staff and gave insight into the lives of Gratz's school leaders. It is also reported that several Gratz students started an urban garden at Steel School.
